Soup Night in Fall City

We are learning that it is so simple to be a witness and to offer the loving, welcoming hospitality of Jesus. The Kraft family is practicing this in Fall City when they offer Soup Night to their neighbors.

One Thursday night a month, they invite the neighbors around them to come to their house for a simple meal of soup and bread. Last week, six families came to their home for Soup Night! One woman said, "I've lived here since 1983 and this is the first time that it's felt like an actual neighborhood."

Now the neighbors are beginning to take initiative to offer up their homes. One family is going to have a cookie exchange in December; others want to start bringing soup. It's beginning to multiply in a natural, organic friendly way.

A few years ago I was part of a team in my church that held an evangelism conference to equip people to be witnesses for Jesus. But, we never thought of how simple it can be and natural when we are willing to open our home and provide a cup of cold water and hot soup to those around us.

I am thrillled with the change taking place....maybe you would like to try it out too! If you do, let me know how it goes.
